Melbourne is the home of “Aussie rules football”, or AFL, and no visit to the city is complete without seeing this awesome spectacle take place at its hallowed stadium – the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG). AFL is unlike any other sport in the world: a thrilling, tough contest between elite athletes that wows any first-time watcher of the game and continues to wow long-time fans as the seasons go on.

  • Stroll the laneways

Melbourne is renowned for its charming, narrow laneways, where edgy street art towers over elegant bars, cafes and restaurants. Taking the time to meander down the likes of Degraves Street, Bank Place and Hosier Lane, famed for its vibrant street art. After walking these beautiful little passages, be sure to stop at one of their venues, enjoy a coffee, beer or wine, and watch the people go by in this most magical town.

  • See a show at Hamer Hall

The NGV is conveniently located next to the Melbourne Arts Centre, home to the spectacular Hamer Hall. Hamer Hall plays host to some of Australia’s most exciting performances, with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra (MSO) being the hall’s ongoing resident.
