How many wineries are there in the Yarra Valley?

An hour’s drive from Melbourne takes you to one of Victoria’s best wine regions.

Yarra Valley has a range of delicious wines, created by passion and dynamic winemakers in the region. With over 80 wineries in the area, it’s impossible to not go to a couple and make a day out of trying out local wines.

The Yarra Valley region is a cooler climate which is best at producing chardonnay, pinot noir, and cabernet sauvignon.

But with so many wineries to choose from, here is a list of our favourites in the Yarra Valley.

Greenstone Vineyards

Greenstone Vineyards has two vineyards, one here in Yarra Valley and the other in Heathcote.
Greenstone has a smaller selection of wines, but that doesn’t mean anything! The wines have been crafted to perfection, with some even being award winners!

Greenstone Vineyards has a range of different tastings. You can taste different types of wines by trying Greenstone’s special Heathcote shiraz flight.

Soumah of Yarra Valley

Soumah has some delicious award winning wines, all produced and made in Yarra Valley.

There is a variety of wines to try and buy like whites, reds, rosè, sparkling, and sweet. You can try the wines from one of their few ranges like d’Soumah, Single Vineyard, Equilibrio, Muse Collection, and European Collection.

You can visit the Soumah cellar door and try five different wines with some nibbles to go along with the tasting.

Yering Farm Estate

Yering Farm Estate has incredible wine to try and super helpful staff during the tastings.
There are seven different fruit varieties planted around the farm in Yering, helping craft the different wine types.

Yering does a selection of wine tastings where you can try their best whites, reds, and rosè.

Balgownie Estate

Balgownie Estate has one of the nicest cellar doors in Yarra Valley. With award winning wines, delicious foods, and a gorgeous vineyard, Balgownie Estate is one of the wineries to visit in Yarra Valley.

Balgownie has a huge selection of wines, so you’ll no doubt find your next favourite everyday wine to have. There’s a selection of red, white, and sparkling wine from six of Balgownie’s different labels.

There is also a restaurant and bar at the cellar door where you can stop between wineries and have a meal.

An easy way to get around Yarra Valley to try some wines is by booking a wine tour. A popular one is the Yarra Valley Food and Wine Lovers Tour which takes you to four boutique wineries and even lunch!
