Soak up the sunshine at one of the many bustling activities during Melbourne’s summertime season!

There really is nothing like summer in Melbourne, with the city turning up the heat and offering an endless number of activities. Regardless of whether you’re up for a day adventure amidst the sun, or looking for a fantastic warm night escapade, Melbourne has you covered!

  • Moonlight Cinema

Instead of spending another night taking hours to choose the perfect movie on Netflix, opt to head out after sunset and enjoy a classic in the outdoors. The Moonlight Cinema has become a summer tradition in Melbourne, offering an entertaining, relaxed and social night out amidst lush greenery of the city’s botanical gardens. Held every night except Mondays, the entire program consists of both newly released flicks to beloved classics, giving you plenty of choices when booking your tickets.

  • Summertime Social

Federation Square’s skyline terrace has been transformed into Melbourne’s biggest playground this summer. Popping up with a summer-themed bar and game’s centre with lawn bowls, giant Jenga, live music, and plenty of summer cocktails to go around. It is the ultimate spot to kick back and relax in the sunshine with your partner or posse, feeding on the delicious woodfire pizzas, lobster rolls while downing down on the boozy slushies.

  • NGV Friday Nights

Melbourne is famed for its style, having a reputation for being a buzzing city with a dynamic and cutting-edge arts and culture scene. One of the greatest spots to see the best art around is the National Gallery of Victoria, home to world-renowned artwork and everchanging expos. Most of the time, the gallery is only open in the day, but during the summer its doors open every Friday night. Giving guests a perfect combo of art, drinks, and music all amidst the inside and outdoors of this picture-perfect gallery.

  • Queen Victoria Night Market

Hump days aren’t usually overloaded with activities, but Melbourne’s Queen Victoria Market is the exception. Providing both locals and tourists with a great summer night of over 150 different stalls that offer vintage fashion, delicious grub, and unique arts and crafts. Live music fills the air, and visitors can be found strolling through the stalls or simply sitting nearby to enjoy the ambience!

  • Ice Cream Festival

Celebrate your love for ice-cream at the annual Ice-Cream Festival! Serving 144 delectable flavours, including classics such as chocolates, to unusual tastes like pinot gris sobert or tangy goats’ cheese.  It’s not just in one spot, with all three locations of the famous Chocolaterie and Ice Creamery in the Yarra Valley, the Great Ocean Road and the Mornington Peninsula all offering this 12-day ice cream bonanza.
